Kaladi Shiva Temple

Kaladi Shiva Temple is a small, hushed Shiva shrine in the village of Meloor in Thrissur district, Kerala, set close to the banks of the Chalakudy River amid working paddy fields. Local historians regard it as the oldest temple in Meloor, a quiet counterpoint to the busier pilgrim centres of the region. There is nothing theatrical about the setting: a compact sanctum, a lotus-filled temple pond beside it, and a riverside bathing ghat a couple of hundred metres away where its ritual immersions are performed. Visitors come for the calm and the sense of age rather than for grand architecture or a famous legend.
