Yoko Ono Wish Tree (C3A)
At the entrance of the Centro de Creación Contemporánea de Andalucía (C3A) on the south bank of Córdoba's Guadalquivir River, a full-grown olive tree stands as one of the city's most quietly powerful art installations. Yoko Ono's Wish Tree for Peace invites every visitor to write a wish on paper and hang it from the branches — transforming a walk into a contemporary art centre into an act of collective dreaming. Installed in December 2017 to celebrate C3A's first public anniversary, the work belongs to a series Ono began in 1996 and has placed in museums worldwide. The Córdoba version replaces the traditional Japanese bamboo with an olive tree — a symbol of peace rooted in Andalusian soil. Every wish hung here is eventually collected and sent to Ono herself for integration into her Imagine Peace Tower on Viðey island in Reykjavik, a luminous memorial to John Lennon.
