Miếu Bà Chúa Xứ Bình Tiên
Miếu Bà Chúa Xứ Bình Tiên is a small village shrine tucked into the rice-and-orchard countryside of Tân Phú Trung commune, in the Đồng Tháp heart of Vietnam's Mekong Delta. Like thousands of southern miếu, it is dedicated to Bà Chúa Xứ—the 'Lady of the Realm,' a mother-goddess whose cult was carried south by Vietnamese settlers and blended with the rituals of wet-rice farming. There is no ticket booth, no crowds and no tour-bus parking here; what you find instead is a quiet, fragrant place where local families light incense, lay out fruit and flowers, and ask the Lady for luck with the harvest and the household. The shrine sits in a low-lying patch of the delta between the Tiền and Hậu rivers, a short ride south of the old market town of Sa Đéc. For most visitors, Bình Tiên is best enjoyed as part of a slower Mekong day—pairing a stop at a working village temple with the flower-and-noodle culture of nearby Sa Đéc and the water-coconut gardens and paddy fields of the commune.
