Comunidade de Cachoeira ponte de ferro
On the shoulder of the BR-494, where the old iron railway bridge once crossed the Rio Itapecerica, a tiny riverside hamlet has quietly kept the name Cachoeira Ponte de Ferro. Today it is best known for what drew the old fishing families here: a stretch of the river broken by rocks and little natural pools, an easy place to dip your feet, cast a line, and watch the water run in the green hills of central-western Minas Gerais. This is not a developed resort or a marked trailhead, but a genuine rural community of roughly forty residents that doubles as a casual outing spot for people from nearby Divinópolis and São Sebastião do Oeste. Its charm lies in exactly that—peace, a simple beach-like pool by the road, a little church, and a handful of living traditions you would not find at a commercial attraction.
