Lakshmanpur Jain Mandir (Bankura)
Set in the quiet village of Laxmanpur in Bankura district, Lakshmanpur Jain Mandir — also known as the Shri Digambar Jain Mandir — is a small, working place of worship in the Digambar tradition of Jainism. It is not a grand heritage monument but a calm devotional sanctuary at the heart of a rural community, and a welcome stop for travellers tracing the living Jain presence across western Bengal. Inside, the focal point is a white-marble image of Lord Mahavir, the 24th Tirthankar, venerated in the serene, meditative posture typical of Jain iconography. The temple keeps a low-key rhythm of prayer and reflection rather than spectacle, and it provides the practical comforts of a pilgrimage site — a dharamshala for staying visitors, a bhojanshala serving simple vegetarian food, an upashray, and parking.
