MN Law Enforcement Memorial
The Minnesota Law Enforcement Memorial honors more than 350 peace officers who have died in the line of duty across the state, dating back to 1874. Originally erected at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport in 1977, the granite monument now stands on the Minnesota State Capitol grounds in St. Paul as the centerpiece of the Peace Officers Memorial. The memorial is stewarded by the Minnesota Law Enforcement Memorial Association (LEMA), a volunteer organization founded in 1974 by Golden Valley Police Chief Jim Crawford. LEMA's office is located at 1670 S Robert Street in West St Paul, and its mission extends beyond the monument itself — supporting fallen officers' families through honor funerals, scholarships, and an annual memorial observance.
