Cascade de Donozau
The Donozau Waterfall, or Cascade de Donozau, is a tiered mountain cascade in the Margeride highlands above Langogne in Lozère. It is fed by the Donozau stream, one of the natural tributaries of the nearby Lac de Naussac, and tumbles down a series of rocky steps through quiet forest. Locals also call it the cascade 'des Fadarelles', the little fairies, a name that suits its hidden, mossy setting. It is an easy half-day outing in the Occitanie countryside: a short walk from the road reaches the falls, and the lakeside path makes a pleasant ramble in any season. The real spectacle comes in winter, when the successive tiers freeze into a wall of ice that photographers prize, while spring flows and the afternoons of late summer offer calmer, greener visits.
