Andrejewa-Bucht
Andreyeva Bay — known in German as Andrejewa-Bucht and in Russian as Guba Andreyeva (губа Андреева) — is a small, deep inlet on the Murman Coast of the Barents Sea, cutting into the northwestern shore of the Zapadnaya Litsa fjord on Russia's Kola Peninsula. Bare of settlements and ringed by low, rocky hills, it is far from any tourist trail; today it is known internationally not for scenery but for its Cold-War history and its long-running nuclear-clean-up project. The bay sits inside a closed military-administrative territory (the ZATO town of Zaozyorsk) about seven kilometres to the southeast, roughly 55 kilometres northwest of Murmansk and some 60 kilometres from the Norwegian border. As a restricted former naval base and spent-fuel site, it is not open to visitors, and the honest purpose of this page is to explain what the place is rather than to invite a visit.
