Punta de los Hornicos
Punta de los Hornicos is a low rocky headland along the Costa de Almería, where the long sandy beaches of the Vera–Palomares coast meet the open Mediterranean. Rather than a built-up sight, it is a quiet piece of wild coastline: the small cape tucks around one end of the beach and opens onto gentle corners that local guides recommend simply for a slow walk with the sea ahead. It sits just south of the Río Almanzora mouth, shading the stretch of Playa de Quitapellejos-Palomares and neighbouring Playa de la Fábrica del Duro, on a shoreline the province actively works to protect from erosion. Set against the dry, sun-bleached scrub typical of Almería, the point offers wide-water views and the open, unpolished feel that makes this part of southern Spain different from the busier resort beaches to the north.
