Atrasket
Åträsket is a small, quiet lake in Älvsbyn municipality, Norrbotten, set in the middle of a compact nature reserve known as Åträsket Domänreservat. The reserve — barely half a square kilometre — protects a stretch of open pine-heath forest shaped by centuries of wildfire, and it remains one of the few places in this heavily logged landscape where taiga woodland has been allowed to develop largely on its own terms. For the visitor, the appeal is straightforward: easy low-terrain walking beneath tall pines, a ground carpeted in lichens and heather, small bogs ringed with lush birch and spruce, and faint traces of the tar-burning era left as moss-covered stump heaps. The lake itself adds a quiet water edge, and the reserve is accessible by car via a road that runs straight through it.
