Parco Naturale Monte San BartoloCountry park

Pesaro · IT

Parco Naturale Monte San Bartolo

Founded in 1994 on the doorstep of Pesaro, Monte San Bartolo Natural Park is that rare Adriatic coastline where green hills tumble straight into the sea. Instead of the endless sandy bathing lidos of Italy's northern Adriatic, a single dramatic cliff—the falesia—rises sheer from the water, crowned by terraced ridges, medieval villages and a web of walking paths. It is the start of the central Italian hill system, and it gives the flat seaside resort town of Pesaro a wild, walkable backdrop just minutes from the beach. For visitors the appeal is simple and potent: clifftop belvederes for sunset, a steep lane down to a hidden pebble cove, cliff-edge hamlets like Fiorenzuola di Focara and Casteldimezzo, Renaissance villa gardens and water games below the ridge, and a set of waymarked trails that run the length of the headland. The park stays open around the clock and costs nothing to enter, making it one of the easiest and most rewarding half-day escapes on the Marche coast.
