RaikyojiBuddhist temple

Raikyoji

Raikōji (来教寺), shown on Google Maps as "Raikyoji," is a small temple of the Ōtani branch of Jōdo Shinshū (Shin Buddhism) tucked into a quiet residential corner of Kamezaki, a former port town in the city of Handa, Aichi. Its weathered wooden main hall and unhurried precinct give it a plain, reflective character rather than a polished tourist one. The principal image here is Amida Nyorai (the Buddha of Infinite Light), central to Shin Buddhist devotion. There is no formal mountain gate; instead a gentle sloping path leads up to the main hall, and the building's aged timber carries a quiet sense of long history. Visitors describe the atmosphere as understated and quietly beautiful—an exercise in wabi-sabi.
