Ravinen
Ravinen is a small but striking nature reserve on the border of Småland’s classic forest landscape, built around a dramatic geological rift — a fault ravine up to 12 metres deep, flanked by steep walls of Småland porphyry. A forest fire in 1916 scorched everything around the ravine, but inside the gorge the trees survived untouched, creating a rare pocket of old-growth character surrounded by regenerating forest. Today it is a compact loop walk where you can stand on the rim, peer into the shadowed depths, and descend to a mossy spruce swamp floor thick with berries. With an orange-marked 870-metre trail circling the ravine plus a longer 1.4-kilometre route, the reserve is a quick, rewarding stop that can be combined with other Uppvidinge nature reserves nearby.
