Bellevue Island
Bellevue Island is the largest of Lake Orion's islands, sitting just off the mainland in the village of Lake Orion, Michigan, and connected by an early twentieth-century concrete arch bridge. Once the bustling heart of a Detroit-area resort scene—with Chautauqua assemblies, two hotels, and a 2,240-seat auditorium drawing thousands of summer visitors—it is today a peaceful year-round residential neighborhood on a 495-acre lake. Visitors come to the surrounding Lake Orion area for boating, waterfront strolls, and a charming historic downtown only a short drive from Detroit. The island itself offers a quiet, leafy setting and a tangible sense of the region's resort-era past, from its handsome bridge to the lake vistas visible from every shore.
