Zennenji
Tucked into the hot-spring town of Takeo in Saga Prefecture, Zennen-ji (善念寺) is one of the many small neighbourhood temples that quietly line the streets around Takeo Onsen. A temple of the Honganji-ha branch of Jodo Shinshu (True Pure Land Buddhism), it sits within easy walking distance of Takeo Onsen station and the bath district, making it an unhurried, off-the-busy-street stop for anyone already in town for the waters. Zennen-ji is not a grand sightseeing temple with ticketed halls or famous treasures; its appeal is the opposite — a calm, local place of worship where you can pause, compose yourself and glimpse the everyday Buddhist life of a Kyushu onsen town.
