Hobbmyrtjärnen
Hobbmyrtjärnen is a very small forest tarn — a tjärn in Swedish — set in the mountain-forest country of Vilhelmina in southern Lappland, near the village of Dikanäs. At just a few hectares in area and lying around 551 metres above sea level, it is the kind of still, dark-water pool scattered through the spruce and birch uplands of the Upper Vojmån valley, more a quiet landmark on a hiking or fishing map than a destination with facilities of its own. What gives it a sense of place is its setting. It sits well inland in Norrland's forested interior, close to the tree line and high on the sub-alpine plateau, and its water ultimately drains through the Vojmån towards the Ångermanälven and the sea some 390 kilometres away. The surrounding country is popular for walking, fishing and quiet nature days, so a tarn like this is most often encountered en route rather than visited for its own sake.
