Porter Lake
Porter Lake is a shallow salt lake in central Saskatchewan, roughly 20 km northeast of Saskatoon, recognized as one of Canada's most important shorebird habitats. Its expansive mudflats and seasonal fluctuations create a dynamic landscape that draws birders, nature photographers, and those seeking a quiet prairie escape. The lake and surrounding area are designated as an Important Bird Area of Canada (SK 077), covering nearly 58 square kilometres. During good water years, you can walk out on a sandbar that stretches across the lake — a memorable prairie curiosity.
