Wilfrid Israel Museum

In the green heart of Kibbutz HaZore'a, in Israel's Jezreel Valley, a modest modernist building shelters one of the country's oldest museums and an extraordinary story of generosity, rescue, and cross-cultural passion. The Wilfrid Israel Museum, founded in 1951, houses a collection of Asian and Near Eastern art bequeathed to the kibbutz by Wilfrid Israel—a German-Jewish humanitarian who saved tens of thousands of Jewish children during the Holocaust and gave his life doing so. Today the museum is a living cultural center where ancient bronzes from India, porcelain from China, and sculptures from Thailand sit alongside contemporary exhibitions and a local archaeological collection, all set in one of Israel's most picturesque kibbutz landscapes.
