Älgarydsjön
Älgarydsjön is a small, still inland lake tucked into the forested Småland highlands near the village of Tolg, in Växjö municipality, Kronoberg County. Covering just about a quarter of a square kilometre and sitting at roughly 210 metres above sea level, it is the kind of unassuming woodland water that rewards a detour rather than a pilgrimage — a quiet stretch of open sky among the pines, far from the busiest Swedish lake-resort scenes. What gives the lake its character is its setting and its water: it forms part of a highland forest catchment that drains onward into nearby Tolgasjön and, ultimately, toward the Mörrumsån river system and the Baltic some 135 kilometres away. Test fishing has recorded perch, pike, bream, tench and roach here, so it holds a quiet appeal for anglers and anyone who simply wants to hear water lap against a forest shore.
