Ponte Sant'Agostino
Ponte Sant'Agostino is one of Padua's surviving medieval bridges, a single stone span that has crossed the Tronco Maestro — a branch of the Bacchiglione river — since its reconstruction in 1552. Set in the quiet quarter between Via San Tommaso and Riviera Paleocapa, it offers a rare glimpse of the water-rich city that once counted sixty-five bridges and was crisscrossed by canals powering mills and moving goods. Though the bridge is currently closed to passage, it remains a powerful physical anchor in a neighbourhood undergoing redevelopment, its weathered stonework and sixteenth-century commemorative plaque telling the story of a city shaped by its rivers.
