Amasya Yavuz Selim Meydanı
Yavuz Selim Square (Amasya Yavuz Selim Meydanı) is a small historic landmark and meeting point in the heart of Amasya, where Atatürk and Mehmed Paşa caddesi cross on a low rise above the river. More than a plaza, it is the doorstep of the city's oldest Ottoman quarter, framed by two of Amasya's earliest mosques and the leafy bank of the Yeşilırmak just steps away. For a traveler, the square works best as the starting point of a walk through Amasya's historic center: pause at the old mosques, feel the market-town atmosphere the site has carried for centuries, then follow the lanes down to the riverside yalıboyu houses and the grand Bayezid II Külliyesi nearby. It is free to wander, easy to reach on foot, and wheelchair-accessible.
