MacGregor Lake
MacGregor Lake is a small, quietly wooded body of water in Forsyth Township, Marquette County, deep in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Sitting at about 1,132 feet elevation and only some 28 acres across, it is the kind of inland lake that rewards travelers who are happy to trade crowds for stillness—a narrow ribbon of open water hemmed in by mixed northern forest and reached by gravel township roads off the M-35 corridor near the hamlets of Little Lake and Cedar Bank. It is public water managed by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, so for anglers and shoreline wanderers it offers a low-key Upper Peninsula escape. There are no resorts, beaches or busy marinas here—part of the appeal—just a compact lake you can circle on foot, cast a line into, or cross-country ski and snowmobile past in the winter, framed by aspen, birch, cedar and spruce.
