Bestemorstranda
Bestemorstranda — literally "Grandmother's Beach" — is a small, easygoing swimming spot tucked along the Bunnefjorden arm of the Oslofjord, on the outskirts of the village of Svartskog in Nordre Follo. Despite its location south of the capital, it is one of the fjord beaches owned and operated by the City of Oslo, and it keeps the relaxed, local-summer feel of a neighbourhood hideaway rather than a polished resort. What makes it appealing is its mix of landscapes in compact form: a blend of sand and pebbly shoreline, long expanses of smooth, sloping bedrock (svaberg) to lie out on or dive straight off, a grassy clearing, and forest coming right down to the water's edge. It is the kind of place Norwegians drift to on a warm June or July afternoon — paddle in the fjord, sunbathe on the rocks, and let the day stretch out.
