Sai Mandir
Sai Mandir is a small, working Hindu temple in Old Rajinder Nagar, a leafy residential neighbourhood of central Delhi. Dedicated to Shirdi Sai Baba, the 19th-century saint from Maharashtra whose devotees span every language and background, it is the kind of local shrine that gives a neighbourhood its morning hum of bells and the scent of incense drifting onto the street. It does not try to compete with Delhi's grand tourist temples, and that is part of its charm. Set on Shankar Road between Connaught Place and Karol Bagh, Sai Mandir is a place to step in for a quiet darshan (a viewing of the deity), to watch the rhythm of an ordinary neighbourhood temple, and then walk straight back out into one of the city's most lively, everyday parts.
