Carlton Gardens
Carlton Gardens is one of London's most exclusive and historically rich addresses—a short, elegant cul-de-sac at the western end of Carlton House Terrace in St James's, overlooking St James's Park. Built in the late 1820s on the site of the demolished Carlton House (the Prince Regent's infamous palace), it was designed by John Nash and Decimus Burton as part of what Pevsner called "the greatest terrace houses ever built in Britain." Today it remains a private residential street, but its architecture, associations, and position make it a remarkable discovery for anyone walking between The Mall and Pall Mall.
