Ljustjärn
Ljustjärn is a tiny forest lake nestled in the inland woodlands near Bjurholm, in the borderland between Ångermanland and Västerbotten counties in northern Sweden. Covering just over three and a half hectares with a shoreline of only about 770 metres, it is the kind of small, intimate tarn that gives the Swedish forest landscape its quiet character. The name Ljustjärnen translates roughly as 'the bright lake' — a fitting description for a small pool of open water surrounded by dense boreal forest. It sits at 328 metres above sea level in the Lögdeälven river basin, an area shaped by post-glacial rebound that once lay beneath the ancient sea.
