Galatasaray Islet
A few hundred metres off the Kuruçeşme waterfront, Galatasaray Islet (Galatasaray Adası) sits like a private terrace in the middle of the Bosphorus. The tiny islet — sometimes called Kuruçeşme Island — belongs to Turkey's most famous sports club and has long served as an exclusive social retreat rather than a conventional sightseeing stop. Its appeal lies less in grand monuments than in an atmosphere: dining, swimming and lingering over a sunset on a sliver of land suspended between the European and Asian shores, with ferries and yachts drifting past your table. For the casual traveller, the islet is best experienced from the water or the shore. Unless you hold a Galatasaray membership or an invitation, access is restricted, but the view of its lit-up terraces from the Kuruçeşme promenade — and the story of how a once-decaying platform became one of the city's most sought-after club addresses — make it a quietly compelling stop on any Bosphorus itinerary.
