Gunnarskogs Hembygdsgård
Gunnarskogs Hembygdsgård is a small, well-kept heritage farm in the old church village of Gunnarskog Stommen, in Arvika Municipality in Värmland, western Sweden. Run by the local heritage society, the open-air site gathers around a dozen historic buildings with roots in the surrounding countryside — a place to step into local memory rather than a grand museum. Its crowning treasure is the Skramle runestone, an inscribed stone dated to roughly the 5th–6th century, found in excavations of an early settlement by Lake Gunnern just south of the farm and now displayed on the grounds. The site lives up to the cosy, community spirit of a Swedish hembygdsgård: in summer there is a café serving homemade bread and, on certain days, the traditional porridge nävgröt with pork, alongside handicrafts for sale. Seasonal events, markets and a folk-music gathering keep the yard busy, and the surrounding trails make it an easy stop on a walking day.
