Stora Pölsan Fyr
Stora Pölsan Lighthouse marks the wild outer edge of the Gothenburg northern archipelago, perched on a tiny wind-scoured skerry about five kilometres west of Rörö, where the Kattegatt opens out toward Denmark. A short, white, 1934 tower banded with black keeps watch over a shipping lane once crossed by sail and, in the dark of the Second World War, by a lost Swedish submarine. There is no ferry, café or ticket gate here — this is a destination you reach by your own boat or paddle, and the reward is a rare, raw taste of Sweden's open west coast: gulls and seals, endless horizons, and a panorama of lighthouses stretching from Vinga to Marstrand.
