Kadina Water Tower
On Frances Terrace in the little Yorke Peninsula town of Kadina stands a tall old railway water tower that has been reborn as a giant canvas. Since 2018 the structure has carried a vivid mural by artist Resio, painted in tribute to the Cornish mining heritage that founded this town and the rail line the tower once served. It is a free, easy roadside stop that tells the story of Kadina in a single image. What makes it worth pulling over is the layered meaning baked into the paintwork: a proud maypole girl cradling copper and wheat, a billowing steam engine, and a field of red poppies. Read together, they sum up a copper-mining town, its farming countryside and its war memorial in one sweeping composition. For travellers on the Yorke Peninsula Art Trails, it is one of the region's most striking pieces of public street art.
