Železniční most "Železňák" s lávkou přes Labe
The Železňák is a riveted steel railway bridge from 1939 spanning the Elbe (Labe) river in Hradec Králové, connecting the neighborhoods of Plácky and Věkoše. Beloved locally as "the Iron One," it carries a single rail track alongside a narrow footbridge that gives pedestrians an intimate, eye-level crossing over one of Bohemia's great rivers. The bridge is at a pivotal moment: Czech Railways will replace it for track modernization, but the city has voted to buy the historic structure and relocate it just 30 metres upstream, transforming it into a dedicated pedestrian-and-cycling footbridge — giving this industrial relic a second life.
