The National Memorial
The National Memorial (อนุสรณ์สถานแห่งชาติ) is a major military history museum and commemorative complex on the northern edge of Bangkok, in Pathum Thani province. Built to mark the 200th anniversary of Rattanakosin and opened in 1994 by King Bhumibol and Queen Sirikit, it honors Thai soldiers, police, and civilians who sacrificed their lives defending the nation from the Sukhothai era to modern conflicts. The site combines solemn memorial spaces with a recently renovated, interactive museum spanning wars from World War I to Vietnam, and is free to enter.
