Kapitelsberg
The Kapitelsberg is a soft, forested hill of around 530 metres that rises above the Warme Bode valley between Tanne and Königshütte in the western Harz. Unremarkable under the trees, it reveals its appeal only at the edge: a few hundred metres west of the summit, an exposed lookout hangs high above the river and opens a wide westward panorama across the high Harz to the Wurmberg and the Brocken. For walkers, it is Tanne's own house mountain — an easy, well-signposted climb that takes barely twenty minutes from the edge of the village, and a stamped checkpoint (No. 44) on the Harzer Wandernadel hiking-badge trail network. A tall metal-clad summit cross, visible from the road far below, has long served as the invitation to come up.
