Platamonas Beach
Platamonas Beach stretches along the coast of Pieria in northern Greece, where the green foothills of Mount Olympus meet the Aegean Sea beneath a medieval Byzantine castle. A series of sandy and pebbly coves—some organized with beach bars, others free and quiet—offer crystal-clear, wind-sheltered waters that make this one of the most attractive seaside destinations on the Olympic Riviera. In summer, Platamonas swells to ten times its year-round population as Greek and Balkan families flood toward its Blue Flag waters, the lively promenade tavernas, and the rare triple backdrop of mountain, fortress, and sea.
