Lillsjon
Lillsjön is a small, clear-water lake on the northern edge of the Stockholm region, framed by the town of Kungsängen in Upplands-Bro municipality. It is the centrepiece of the Lillsjön-Örnässjön nature reserve and one of the most popular lakeside outings near the capital, combining a fully serviced beach with forest trails, fishing and year-round recreation just a short journey from the city. Despite its humble name, meaning simply 'the little lake', Lillsjön punches well above its weight. The water is rated good for both ecology and chemistry, and unusually rich in aquatic plants because it is clear yet nutrient-rich, a combination that gives the lake its special character and a thriving community of species, some of them red-listed.
