ŞEHİTLER ÇEŞMESİ
The Martyrs' Fountain (Şehitler Çeşmesi) is a marble public memorial on Saraybosna Caddesi in central Sivas, dedicated to 69 police officers from Sivas province who lost their lives in the line of duty. Commissioned by Sivas Municipality and inaugurated on 10 April 2010 for the 165th anniversary of the Turkish Police Organization, the four-metre-high structure stands in a small landscaped plaza near the old Teachers' Park and bears the names of the fallen on inscriptions across all four sides. The fountain's four troughs channel Kepenek water, a spring long known locally as "sweet water," giving passers-by a place to pause and drink while reading the names carved in marble. The Google Maps listing currently marks the site as permanently closed, so verify its present condition before visiting.
