Lake Number Ten
Lake Number Ten is a ten-acre freshwater lake tucked into the rural farmland of Bowne Township in Kent County, southwestern Michigan. Its quirky name comes not from any count of neighboring lakes but from its position in Section 10 of the original public land survey—a naming convention the 1870 county history recorded as already established by that year. Small enough to circle on foot in under an hour, the lake sits among rolling bush and open fields roughly twelve miles south of Grand Rapids. It attracts a low-key crowd of local anglers, kayakers, and families looking for a quiet afternoon away from the busier public-access lakes in the county.
