AT A GLANCE
Why go?
The Titanus Museum is an immersive multimedia experience in the heart of San Marino's historic centre that brings the extraordinary story of the world's oldest republic to life through holograms, 3D projections and video mapping. Across three themed halls spanning 500 square metres, visitors travel from the prehistoric seabed that formed Mount Titano all the way to San Marino's seat at the United Nations — in under an hour.↗↗
Rather than standing behind glass cases, you step inside the story: an eight-metre projection wall reconstructs the mountain's geological birth, a 3D-printed terrain model shows how the republic's borders took shape, and holographic figures of Saint Marinus, Napoleon and Garibaldi address you directly from the screen.↗↗
Why This Museum Exists
Most visitors to San Marino walk its cobbled streets, photograph the three towers and leave without grasping how a microscopic state perched on a rocky peak survived a millennium of attempts by the Papal States, Napoleon's armies and two world wars to swallow it. The Titanus Museum was founded to close that gap — a local initiative that asks: how do you make a thousand-year story unforgettable for millions of day-trippers? The answer was technology in the service of narrative, with the explicit hope that visitors will treat the museum as their first stop so that every gate, palazzo and monument they see afterwards carries new meaning.
