AT A GLANCE
Why go?
Wat Tha Sung Meditation Center (Korat) is a Buddhist practice hub in the heart of Nakhon Ratchasima, carrying forward the distinctive meditation tradition of the famous Wat Tha Sung temple in Uthai Thani. Founded in 2008 by lay disciples of the revered teacher Luang Phor Phra Chom Phrommayan—widely known as Luang Phor Ruesi Ling Dam—the center hosts regular public retreats where visitors can learn and practice Monom Yit, a visualization-based meditation method said to cultivate extraordinary mental clarity and insight.↗↗↗
The center is small, urban, and community-driven. Unlike the grand glass-hall architecture of its parent temple in Uthai Thani, this Korat outpost is a working practice space where hundreds of local devotees and visitors from across the province gather on weekends for guided meditation, communal chanting, and free Thai food from volunteer kitchens. Its warm, participatory atmosphere and high visitor rating make it a meaningful stop for those interested in living Thai Buddhist practice rather than temple tourism alone.
