AT A GLANCE
Why go?
On Fethiye's seafront promenade along Kordon Yolu stands an unusual kind of attraction: Turkey's first museum devoted to books and the printed word. The Fethiye Culture House Book Museum (Fethiye Kültür Evi Kitap Müzesi) is a municipal cultural centre where a library, an exhibition of rare volumes and a city-memory archive share one bright, modern building overlooking the Aegean.↗↗↗
What draws visitors is the depth of the collection behind the glass cases—centuries-old manuscripts, author-signed first editions in Ottoman script, the earliest printed classics of modern Turkish literature, and, as the centrepiece, a complete century-long archive of Cumhuriyet newspaper donated back to the town that gave its founders to the world. It is a quiet, thoughtful stop for book lovers and history readers looking for something beyond Fethiye's beaches and boat trips.↗↗
