AT A GLANCE
Why go?
Dingya Suspension Bridge (頂雅吊橋) is a small, pedestrian-only footbridge that throws a gentle cable-arched span across the Keoya River (客雅溪) on the edge of central Hsinchu City. At just 38 metres long, it is not the grand mountain suspension bridges of the surrounding hills — it is something far more useful to a traveller: an easy, free riverside crossing that drops motor traffic and links two neighbourhoods along a calm green waterfront.↗↗
Built in 2008 and recently repaired by the city, the bridge takes its name from the two areas it ties together — Dingpu (頂埔) on one bank and Xiya (西雅) on the other. It lets walkers cross the river without detouring onto the busy Jingguo Road, and at either end you step straight into low-key local parks and a riverside temple, making it a pleasant short stop between Hsinchu's more famous sights.↗↗↗
