AT A GLANCE
Why go?
The Chadwick Park Fishing Pier is the land-based fishing spot at the heart of Englewood Beach at Chadwick Park, a Charlotte County park on the Gulf side of Manasota Key. You walk out over the sand on a long boardwalk and cast your line straight into the emerald shallows of the Gulf of Mexico—no boat required. It is one of only two Charlotte County public piers open to anglers since the recent hurricanes, so on many days it is the place the local fishing crowd gathers.↗↗
Beyond the fishing, the pier frames the most developed and family-friendly beach on the key: smooth latte-colored sand, gently shelving water, a 900-foot boardwalk with covered lookouts, picnic shelters, courts, a playground and, as the day softens, some of the most reliable sunset views on Florida's Southwest Coast.↗↗
Fishing without a boat
For anglers, the appeal is simplicity: a pier that delivers you past the breakers to deeper, structure-rich water, so you can leave the boat in the driveway. Expect the inshore Gulf favorites that patrol these flats—snook, pompano, whiting and mackerel—alongside everything that wanders under the pilings. Surf fishing from the beach below works too, which means a family can split up between the pier, the sand and the boardwalk and still keep everyone within sight.
