AT A GLANCE
Why go?
The Museum of Olympic Glory in Tashkent is a striking cylindrical structure that seems to float above its base, decorated with stylized national ornaments. Originally built in 1976 as the 'Friendship of Peoples' museum to mark the tenth anniversary of the Tashkent earthquake, it was transformed in 1996 into a tribute to Uzbekistan's sporting achievements. As one of only five Olympic museums in the world, it offers a unique glimpse into the nation's athletic history and the global Olympic movement.↗↗↗↗
Inside, the museum spans two floors and over 2,700 square meters. The first floor, known as the 'Hall of Glory,' showcases the triumphs of Uzbek athletes at the Olympics and Asian Games. The second floor broadens the scope to the world history of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, featuring everything from ancient coins to modern memorabilia. Visitors can expect a guided tour that brings the exhibits to life, covering topics from national sports to international cooperation.↗↗↗
