AT A GLANCE
Why go?
The Casa de la Cultura Manuel Antonio López is the beating creative heart of La Villa del Rosario, a small town at the foot of the Perijá mountain range in Venezuela's Zulia state. More than a building, it serves as a community conservatory, workshop, auditorium and gathering place where hundreds of local students learn music, painting, crafts and performing arts under the guidance of dedicated teachers.↗↗
Named after Manuel Antonio López Sutherland, a former municipal council president, the center hosts the FEIM music school, visual arts workshops, a crafts and home-economics program, theater and dance groups, and the well-known show band Virgen del Rosario. During festival weeks such as Carnaval and Semana de la Zulianidad, its auditorium comes alive with exhibitions of local painting, handicrafts, traditional costumes, and typical regional dishes.↗↗↗
