The Mantra Port Sea is a solid 4 star choice. Nothing very luxurious but clean, comfortable and well maintained. We enjoyed our stay. We had a 2 bedroom apartment (studio apartment plus connected room). The kitchen was well appointed, we self catered most meals. Bathrooms were dated but were clean and had plenty of towels, products, toilet paper etc. comfortable beds. Rooms have AC and ceiling fans, great to have choice. Pool is okay, really shallow, but plenty of sun chairs. Very good location, a lovely 10minute walk to the main shops and restaurants. 2 minute walk to the beach. We didn’t use the Lagoon Bar, gym (very small and basic) or games room (for kids) so no review. There are lots of laundry facilities available too. This hotel is great for families so keep that in mind (can be good or bad!). Rooms can be noisy if you have noisy neighbours, not much sound insulation. This was a great choice for the price point. A very good hotel. Also make sure you go to Bam Pow restaurant across the road, it’s delicious!

We booked our trip fairly last minute and given it was July there were not many options left. All in all the experience was ok, but we wouldn’t return if we had other options. The resort definitely needs some TLC - the gym was in a dire state which was a shame as I wanted to make use of it. The equipment was old, no free weights and the antique looking treadmill was out of order (probably for the best though!). We were woken up in the middle of the night when the fire alarm accidentally went off. When I spoke with reception in the morning, the girl behind the counter barely offered an apology. At check-out the same girl again lacked any basics in customer service, didn’t even offer a goodbye let alone ‘how was your stay’. We rented the tennis court one afternoon and I’m appalled that they can bring themselves to accept payment from customers for a facility in such a poor state. The court terrain is damaged so if the ball lands in certain spots, it bounces in a completely different direction! The lagoon bar could do with more variety, the selection of cocktails is fairly slim. The only positive is the location, right by the beach and 15 minutes to Macrossan St.

Let’s start with the positives - the staff were generally helpful and friendly, the location is fine and the rooms are spacious. The kids enjoyed the pool and spa (although neither were particularly warm) and tennis courts. The continental breakfast is average but fine to start the day. But unfortunately I wouldn’t stay here again. The moment we walked into our two room suite on the lower floor the musty smell of mould hit me and it wasn’t long before we discovered a layer of mould on the top of the bathroom walls and a door. Not to mention dirt and dust under beds and grime in every crack and in every corner. I called reception concerned about the impact the mould would have on my daughter’s asthma. While they couldn’t find us another room they promised a deep clean to remove the mould the next day. Their explanation was the local climate which can make mould appear quickly - but based on the state of the room I would say it hasn’t had a thorough clean in some time. While the receptionist was friendly, apologetic and understanding, and most (but not all) of the mould was removed the next day the state of the room still wasn’t up to scratch. There really is no excuse for a hotel room being this unclean. Unfortunately the smell remained throughout our stay. The rooms need a really deep clean, not just for mould but under beds (thick layer of dust, left behind socks etc), in every corner (little piles of dirt), within wardrobes etc (yuk) and within the aircon, every corner is gross. If staying here maybe ask for a room on a higher floor. My parents had a sunnier room up higher that seemed nicer. I wouldn’t stay here again. I left feeling like I needed a good shower.

We recently stayed for 5 nights and 6 days, the room wasn’t serviced at all in the time we were there, had a card that we could request one set of fresh towels, we used the beach towels as bath towels. Room was not clean, we dropped something on the floor under the chairs, moved them and the floor was filthy underneath. Would’ve expected better from a 4 star hotel. Would definitely stay elsewhere next time. Not for us I’m afraid.

Have had the most amazing time here. Staff are all wonderful and very friendly. Nothing is a problem. Breakfast was lovely each morning. Facilities are great with plenty to do. Only a short walk into town. Enjoyed my stay so much am looking into buying a unit here, so I can keep coming back again and again. Highly recommended a stay here at the Mantra Portsea resort Port Douglas!!

Stayed at the mantra portsea recently and thoroughly loved our stay. Great location and facilities. All the staff were incredibly professional, hospitable and accommodating (special shout out to Niamh at reception). Will definitely be back next year.

We had a great time at Mantra Port Sea. The location is great - short stroll into town or you can order a shuttle from reception with ease (A$11 return). We stayed in a studio apartment which enables you to cook for yourself if you want. Pool with swim up bar is fantastic, although the bar is modestly stocked. Our package included continental breakfast each day which had a decent variety of options. The staff throughout were friendly and helpful.

Originally a 2 night stay - extending to a 3rd night as Port Douglas really does have lots to offer. Great hotel and really outstanding staff. From our checking in with Augustine, followed by our extended stay smoothly and effortlessly changed with Thomas. Staff are so accommodating. Rooms clean and comfortable, wish the Lagoon bar was open a little longer at sundown but we are here during winter months. A really nice feel and even though at 90% capacity you wouldn’t know it. Try the Thai in the Main Street, and of course the trip to Cape Trib a must !!
