This was our 6th parador stay on this trip and we had looked forward to staying here for some time. The valet parking was a real treat, after our drive in to the city and the welcome from reception good. We were too early to check in, so we left our luggage with the concierge team and went for a drink in the bar/cafeteria, just off the square. Staff everywhere were excellent and happy to engage in conversation. Clearly a lot of tourists and day trippers use this bar/terrace/cafeteria and at times it got very busy. This was the only bar at the Parador and as a guest, another bar for guests would have been good. We ate dinner in the main restaurant, accompanied by a pianist. We opted for the tasting menu with wine flight. Super atmosphere but whilst it was good value, the food not quite up to the quality we had expected, they were just too busy we felt. Room was super, very clean and cool and breakfast buffet and service again excellent. Several lounges and quieter areas for relaxing just for guests. We would definitely return and understand the parador may be closed for part of its refurbishment programme in 27 or 28, which may make the necessary improvements. Another quality bar for residents is a must.

We have stayed in a couple dozen different Paradores in Spain and this is one of the most memorable. In fact, we have stayed in this particular one four times after each of the four Caminos we have walked. First off, this is the oldest continuously used hotel in the world. Yes, it is old and has undergone many renovations. It’s not a Ritz Carlton, it’s a pilgrim hospital that has had many transformations. Now it is a eye comfortable hotel/museum. Take it for what it is worth. Rooms are comfortable and decent sized, AC works reasonably well if temperatures don’t exceed 90 degrees, breakfasts are above average, service is friendly and polite. Nice amenities and good bathrooms. The location, perpendicular to the cathedral is absolutely fantastic and the experience of having walked 900km and staying in this historical building should not be taken lightly. Are there better hotels in Santiago? Almost certainly. But is there a better hotel after finishing a Camino walk? Unlikely. When we walk the Camino again, we will plan on staying here.

Service: the maids and security guards were nice and helpful. The breakfast and dinner restaurant staff were also great. But the hotel reception staff behind the desk, and bar staff were a bit cold and dismissive, and not inclined to help. I believe they deliberately ignored me when I tried to ask them questions or order a drink. Rooms were very nice, but one more water bottle would have been appreciated. And more signage to indicate how to get to the rooms would be nice. We had to walk a long way to get to the rooms because there was the only route shown on the signs. But there was a much shorter route that had no signage or indication. Location was amazing. This is inside an old castle and it’s awesome to see the old corridors and courtyards.

Great hotel in old historical building with lots of antiquar pieces and furtiture which makes the pkace a sort of museum itself. Rooms are decorated in style of previous ages with modern bathroom though (bathroom has both a shower and a bath). Amazing view on the main cathedral from the breakfast hall. Old arched hall of the restraunt. Spectacular inner yards with small fontains.

I felt extremely fortunate to be able to stay here at the absolute height of the tourist season. The place is part of history: one of the oldest hostelries in the world: founded by Ferdinand and Isabella, it has been serving travelers for over 500 years! |Built as a hospital to take care of ailing pilgrims on Camino de Santiago, it converted to a Parador hotel in 1954.|The public spaces are really interesting. Parador guests are given a map for a self guided tour that explains the building and its historic role that I found extremely interesting. I also enjoyed exploring around the vast structure discovering courtyards, gardens, and the chapel in the middle.|In addition, the Parador fronts on Obradoiro square where arriving pilgrims congregate. We had a room facing front: don't know how we managed it actually. But double window rendered it amazingly quiet despite noisy activity in the Square.|The Parador is an easy walk from the Cathedral, its museum, the old town and other nearby areas.|Included breakfast is amazing.|Had one lunch at the restaurant which was also excellent.

We stayed here for three nights after doing the Camino Portuguese. The facilities and location were top notch! However: Breakfast left much to be desired. If you want hot food, you have to order it. Not even boiled eggs! And the receptionist during the night was quite rude. We can’t help but compare with the Paradores in Pontevedra where staff was very kind and helpful and friendly/polite.

Exceptional location with access to every major attraction. Front desk and check in experience is excellent with Maria at the front desk, a pleasure to engage with. In spite of her juggling multiple fronts, she makes it happen to the customer and she is the flagship at this place. Spacious rooms and great dining experience makes this place a must stay in this city. I would highly recommend anyone to stay here.

We were staying at the Parador at Santiago de Compostela and found this a wonderful alternative at the Parador to the more formal dining hall known as the Dos Reis. It is called Enxebre and near the entrance to the Parador. The menu was amazing, with competative prices and great quality that was matched by the attentive professional service that one expects at a Parador. Nice wooden tables and good lighting and no annoying background music. We had lunches and dinners there, sampling the best of Galician dishes, such as the octopus, the clams and the wine. We had all of our lunches and dinners here.
