This hotel is centrally location next to the Sintra Palace. Our family of 7 had 3 rooms with balconies and the view is fantastic. We can see the Quinta de Regaleira, Biester Palace and Moors Castle. The rooms were clean and comfortable. |The staff were friendly and considerate and we felt super welcomed. Would highly recommend NH Sintra to anyone staying in town.

Very well located, close to the train station, few Places and restaurants. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Rooms were very clean, in the bathroom I would smell the drain but we understand the old plumbing system so did not bother us. Breakfast has little bit of everything, so we enjoyed it. We definitely had a pleasant stay. Would highly recommend.

Room was big and well appointed but the best part was the view. Incredible terrace with a breathtaking view of the valley. Hotel is located in a great area walkable to many stores, cafes and restaurants and just a short 20min bus ride to most major palace attractions. Would def recommend and if I'm lucky enough to go back to Sintra, I would stay at the NH again.

Not many good things to say about this hotel. The location is great, some rooms have very nice views, and there is complimentary water in the hotel lobby. The staff is very friendly, but some are not very efficient. We are Platinum members, and this was one of the worst NH hotels we have stayed at. When we arrived, we were “upgraded” to a room where the electric panel was next to the bed and made a terrible noise. The balcony door did not close properly, so there was a constant draft. We complained and were moved to the room next door. That room was acceptable, but clearly in need of renovation. The curtains had mold, the toilet did not function properly, the upper shower head did not work, and the work station did not have a power outlet. During the room change, the amenities were not restocked. We initially had bathrobes, but after the first day of cleaning they were taken away and not replaced. The app also did not work to make requests. As Platinum members we are entitled to a local welcome treat, but we received nothing, even though we informed the hotel of our status and mentioned that we were there for a celebration. The worst situation, however, was the breakfast. NH Sintra follows the same system as other NH hotels. If you book breakfast while making room reservations it costs around +30€ per person, the day before around €13, while booking on the day costs €19. We booked the day before, but when we arrived there was no breakfast reservation in the system. The only option offered was to pay €19 instead of the €13 we had booked the day before, even though reception confirmed that there was a note indicating our request. During this interaction the staff did not apologise or attempt to resolve the situation. The simple solution would have been to acknowledge the mistake and honour the booked price. Instead, we were expected to pay more. We decided not to have breakfast there, as the situation felt very unprofessional. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel unless there are significant improvements.

4.5 /5 Mixed feelings, but the simple answer to the question : would you suggest it to a friend? Would be "yes". On the pros : the room was as expected, spacious enough, comfy bed, nice balcony, clean and furnished bathroom. Perfectly central. The breakfast was pretty good, nothing fancy but everything was rather tasty. Not the coffee, of course, but that is a given nowadays. They stored our belongings until late and the common area was nice and cozy. Cons : when we arrived, they told us the room would not be ready by 15h. With a small baby, that would have been a problem. We protested, and they managed to solve the issue and give us the room by 15h05. The thing is that, in a 4-star hotel, you do not just say "sorry, the room will be ready 15-20 minutes later". You find another room right away, or you immediately offer for some compensation such as a glass of wine, late checkout, anything really. You do not expect the guest to simply accept that... This created a bad vibe from the beginning, but they were able to manage it somehow. I think that there were some difficulties with the english language sometimes, which is a problem in a touristic place and in a 4-star hotel. Said so, I was happy with the stay.

We stayed a day and night and it was a pleasant experience. We were welcomed by Francisco who were professional, friendly and helpful through our stay.The rooms were comfortable, airy and light with a wonderful view, even from the 3rd floor. Being in the centre of Sintra with parking, gave us a perfect base to walk from to the top five castles and gardens.

I was EXTREMELY disappointed in this hotel. To begin, we were not allowed to be dropped off at the entrance of the hotel by our driver. My 80 year old mother with mobility issues had to drag her luggage through the parking garage and up a flight to check in. The hotel staff were rude. Two of our party of eight checked in with one person and were told of a breakfast special available only at check-in (they aren't breakfast eaters), but the others of us were not told of the reduced rate that was not available the next morning. Desk clerks were not at all welcoming, were cold at that. We were put in rooms that had two sets of stairs to access the rooms (beyond the elevator!) and were given rooms with a high tub that my mother could not enter. The building was dirty, and run down. It appears that the building had not been updated in several decades. There were issues that prevented other car services from picking us up at the entrance (despite my mother's mobility issues), and there was a lot of construction near the hotel. We requested that we be able to check out a day early, and there was no manager on staff to help us until 3 days later. When I was given the phone number to call the manager, the manager not only didn't answer, but never called back. I would advise against staying here. The people in Portugal are absolutely lovely, but the rudeness of the desk staff really soured our experience. That being said, the bar staff were very kind and welcoming.

We booked this hotel because the room was advertised as having air conditioning, but when we arrived in 30°C heat the room was absolutely boiling and the “air conditioning” only blew hot air. We went straight to reception and were told the whole hotel was set to heating mode and there was nothing they could do. The attitude from the front desk staff was honestly awful. Every time we asked for help they just shrugged their shoulders and acted like they didn’t care at all. No effort to help, no solutions, no real apology. We asked to cancel immediately because the room clearly wasn’t as advertised and was too uncomfortable to stay in, but the hotel still charged us for the night anyway. Even worse, after a few emails they just stopped responding altogether. Getting to the hotel was also a nightmare. Because of blocked roads and access restrictions, taxis and Ubers wouldn’t take us all the way there, so we ended up dragging our luggage up an extremely steep hill in the heat just to get to the hotel. The hotel itself feels very old and tired. The rooms are really basic and definitely need refurbishing. It honestly did not feel worth the money at all. To make matters worse, there was construction work directly outside our room, with diggers ripping up the road and drilling into the concrete. We’ve stayed in NH hotels in other countries before and had good experiences, which made this even more surprising. This was easily one of the worst customer service experiences we’ve had at any hotel. Luckily, due to the time of year, we were fortunate enough to find much better alternatives nearby for the same price or even cheaper.
