The apartment was very tired, needs a up grade. The spa was very old lots of broken parts. The bathroom has no central drain so when you have a shower water stay lying on floor. Making a slip hazard. No coffee machine. Missing some cutlery egg flip, microwave containers.Hotel staff were excellent very helpful nothing was too much trouble. The spa was a main reason for this hotel room choice, so disappointed when very very old but broken.

FANTASTIC! After an awful experience with another resort (see my review for Martinique Whitsunday), our group found ourselves at this fantastic resort. The staff were very friendly, the rooms and amenities were spotless and there was laughter coming from other guests. Great views, beautiful pool and a family friendly atmosphere makes this an absolute must-stay when next you find yourself in Airlie - Highly recommend!

I was really hoping for a wonderful stay at Water's Edge Resort, but unfortunately it was one of the worst accommodation experiences I’ve had. The apartment was filthy. It genuinely seemed like no cleaning had been done between guests apart from changing the bedding. The floors were dirty, the bathrooms (including toilets) were unclean, and the kitchen was unacceptable—plates, glasses, and cutlery were put away dirty, and a frypan was stored covered in grease. Not surprisingly, there was a noticeable cockroach problem, which I suspect was made worse by the lack of hygiene. We specifically paid extra for a hot tub, but it quickly became unusable. The water chemistry clearly wasn’t maintained—something I’m familiar with as I own one myself—and it had a strong unpleasant smell. No servicing was done during our entire stay, making it both unpleasant, unsanitary, and unusable. Maintenance across the apartment was also very poor. The bathroom tap was so loose I could tighten it by hand. The balcony tiles were cracked and missing in places, posing a trip hazard. The sliding screen door was damaged and wouldn’t stay on its track, likely needing a simple wheel replacement that had clearly been neglected. The air conditioner leaked in the bedroom, leaving visible stains, and the shower leaked enough to soak the bathmat. Security and general upkeep were also concerning. The front screen door was missing its auto-closer and no key was provided to lock it. Elsewhere in the property, a neighbouring gutter had a large hole, causing water to pour into the reception area during rain. The elevator was unreliable, with doors failing to close properly. Wi-Fi was patchy at best, and the TV wouldn’t connect. (As someone who works in IT, I was able to work around this, but most guests likely wouldn’t be able to.) The only positive I could note was that the oven appeared to be relatively new. Overall, while the layout of the apartment was decent and some effort had gone into the décor, this was completely overshadowed by how dirty and poorly maintained everything was. With proper cleaning and basic maintenance, this place could be enjoyable—but in its current state, it falls well below expectations. The location is great and the employees were helpful and nice, but it is just let down by everything else. I would not stay here again and cannot recommend it.

These units are privately owned, so if the owner doesn’t renovate, then your experience could be vastly different from others. We upgraded to a jacuzzi one bedroom apartment. Views were ok, on ground level, so mostly looking over the Woolworths. Very very dated unit. Bathroom was like a cheap motel, leaking shower door, and a mirror that was on a wall at the end of the bench. Bottom of the doors were damaged from water in the past. Just not good enough. Blockout blinds when your apartment faces the water is a must in my opinion. We had sheer curtains only, not even a thick fabric, so as soon as the sun was up, it was very bright in the apartment. Couldn’t even close a door to the bedroom as it is open space. The bugs and ants were everywhere every morning. Ants in the bed are a red flag. I would suggest a pet control spray to at least get rid of the ants. Location was good, however that comes with noisy reversing trucks going to Woolworths early every day. Overall, a dated resort that needs a good overhaul.

Dear Michelle and Martin Firstly, thank you for your wonderful concern and help with our stay at Waters edge. We , my sister and I , unfortunately got put into room 43 . What a disaster . The second bedroom beds were unsuitable for any person over the age of 5. The main bed in that room was not like a bed , but a hammock. The lovely Martin did his absolute best by finding four pillows to put between the mattress and base . Unfortunately this did not work . Michelle found us a room to transfer to , so that I could at least get some sleep for the last two nights. That room is a disgrace and the owners should be told that unless only the front bedroom is required, it should not be rented out . It was the worst 4 nights I have ever spent. The couch is a disgrace and we needed to put pillows on it to sit . I suggest you spend some money on new beds and a new couch because it is a disgrace. Michelle and Martin you are the only good thing about this place .

The highlight of this property is the pool area and proximity to town. We also appreciated our own view and having laundry available in our suite (although sadly someone had washed something prior to us that made the washer unclean). The bed was comfortable. Opportunities for improvement: quality of towels. The bathroom needs a better renovation overall. It could be so fantastic with a view of the water from the shower itself but it just felt dated and rusty. Also, the glass door/windows for the unit could use replacing. It’s just not a four star place (at least our unit).

Location is great. Rooms were ok but the cleanliness was poor. The toilet bowl had 12 months worth of brown stains in it. We were told that it only gets cleaned every 12 months. The shower walls and the taps were covered with months of soap stains. The dishwasher filters were so blocked that the dishes came out dirtier than when they went in.

This hotel is money grabbing location & they have no empathy for their paying guests. We own the fact in human error we reserved a room 1 year out by mistake, yes we put our hand up for this but under no circumstances would they help us change the booking even though we are trying to provide 7 month notice in advance. We will have commit to the stay or they will take the full $700 for two night accommodation. I would not recommend to reserve a room at this hotel as they have no flexibility as they just see the dollar sign. Very sad for such a beautiful location as Airlie Beach. Shame on you!
