Google· 3 years agoI stayed at this amazing hotel from January 1 to January 28, 2023. I leave tomorrow. I never really do reviews on places, but I feel compelled to write one for this place. The hotels is small and quiet. The courtyard is beautiful. The food is good. The coffee might be the best in Antigua. But the best thing about this hotel is the amazing staff. Thank you: Tina, Brenda, Marisol, Patty, Maria, & Cecilia! You guys are the best. I hope to be back!

Google· 3 years agoWe were traveling with friends during Easter time and had an amazing experience in this hotel. Clean rooms, very cozy garden where we enjoyed breakfast in the morning and beer in the evening. Very nice staff and the owner of the hotel who was ready to help us with anything, gave us several tips about local places and activities, showed us around and was extremely friendly and hospitable. The hotel is also very safe, as the entrance is locked from outside in the evening and at night, and only those who stay there can enter. I definitely recommend staying there!

Google· 4 years agoGreat value for this centrally located hotel. They have a cute courtyard where you can hang out. The rooms are modest yet the staff is attentive and friendly (mostly Spanish speakers only). The bed had the comfiest pillows out of all my hotels/Airbnb’s in Guatemala. You’re not gonna get luxury here but a great value.

Tripadvisor· 9 years agoJust across the square from the La Merced church & convent, this is a lovely little guest house, with no frills, but with plenty of charm. There's a cafe in the front that serves great coffee, crepes and pancakes all day, that leads into the back courtyard where the small number of rooms are available. The rooms are very basic, but very clean and comfortable, although there really is just room for the bed(s). Any sitting or relaxing you want to do you do in the courtyard. There's excellent wifi throughout the posada and a water fountain in the cafe to refill your water bottles whenever you want. The bathrooms are narrow, but the water pressure and heat good and although they provide soap, they don't provide shampoo or any other amenity, so you will need to bring your own. The staff are super friendly and go out of their way to help, even getting up at 4AM to let in late (or early?) arrivals. It's in the perfect location in Antigua to see all the sights and close to the transportation hubs for other parts of Guatemala and Central America. A really nice break from standard hotels or B&B's, this is a lovely little find.

Tripadvisor· 4 years agoI stayed at the Don Diego for 2 weeks in December of 2021 and enjoyed my time there. The coffee and breakfast fare are great. The rooms are clean and simple. The courtyard is nice to sit around. The staff is friendly. The neighborhood has many options for dinner and lunch

Tripadvisor· 10 years agoWe loved our stay. We were two middle aged moms traveling with our two 11 year old daughters. The location next to La Merced made it always easy to find our way back to the hotel and their breakfast is delicious! The shower delivered consistently hot water with wonderful pressure. The main door is locked at night so it is very secure, but they quickly answer the bell to let you back in when you are done exploring the town. Carlos always had a friendly smile for us! The courtyard garden area was perfect for playing cards or just hanging out.

Tripadvisor· 9 years agoThe hotel is arranged around a small courtyard, with rooms at the back of a cafe. The rooms are small but clean, well organized, and the management is happy to assist you with your stay and organize onward travel. The location near La Merced gives you access to street life and street food in the evenings, and it's just a 5 minute walk to the central park and most Antigua attractions. Overall, a great place to stay

Google· 6 years agoI didn't stay here but after trying a few other breakfast places, this was the best. Food arrived quickly, perfectly cooked with just the right proportions. I looked forward to their coffee every morning which came with free refills. My favorite were the huevos divorciados. Highly recommend!
