I cannot rate this hotel highly enough, the room was beautiful, the staff and service were incredible and the food was also amazing. The lady who was in the restaurant was so wonderful and spent time explaining our breakfast and offered to take photos of us. The private onsen baths are all top tier as well. The location is nice and the ryokan feels like its own oasis when inside. Absolutely loved staying here and one day hope to come back.

We enjoyed our stay at KOKO Hotel Premier Hakata. The location is very convenient, with easy access to Hakata Station and many nearby attractions. There is also a convenience store right next door, which was extremely handy during our stay. The staff were friendly, helpful, and responded promptly whenever assistance was needed. The hotel and guest rooms were tidy and well maintained. One thing to note is that daily room cleaning is not provided, so while the room was generally clean and comfortable, I would not rate it at the highest level of cleanliness compared with hotels that provide daily housekeeping service.Amenities such as toothbrushes, tea, and other supplies are available at the lobby for guests to collect as needed, which is a practical and environmentally friendly approach.Overall, a comfortable and well-located hotel with good service, and I would consider staying here again when visiting Fukuoka.

A very enjoyable stay. The staff members are exceptionally helpful and hospitable. It's a high quality onsen ryokan with everything that you would expect. I was really moved by the small details - the smiles and patience of the staff, the small fragrance bags placed on the bed (5 stars for okami-san's sweetness!), their best efforts in communicating in English, and their cleaning of our car before our departure. I really felt like I was welcomed at home. The kashikiri hotsprings are must-tries - each of them are specially furnished in themes. Just a small suggestion - it would be wonderful if the changing room areas of the kashikiri hotsprings are more ventilated or air-conditioned. But they are great experiences as it stand. The meals are great too - with a bit of western twitches that surprised my Japanese style preferred taste, but good quality nonetheless. Overall, while it was not the most luxurious onsen ryokan experience for me, it was definitely one of the most hospitable. You definitely get the value of what you paid for.

I booked 2nights for the maisonette with semi outdoor air bath while few days before my arrival I did emailed Yado Matsubaya and Relux that I would like to extend one more night. However, to no respond till the day I arrived the ladies at the reception unable to speak English. Hence we communicated through google translate. I managed to extend my stay however there will be changed of room. I was a room with indoor ensuite onsen which I don’t mind. I was not satisfied that I was charged the same price as my maisonette. The room was so much smaller with lousy view and no privacy. I have to brought down the night blind as the top floor is able to watch my room from their balcony. Nevertheless, I am pleased with the maisonette which have balcony on each floor. The living room have high ceiling and a Japanese style sitting area which is spacious and clean. I did enjoyed my 2days living in this luxury room but not the extended day which I paid the same price. Meal was Japanese breakfast and dinner were delicious, authentic and pleased to the eyes too. The service at the restaurant was great though most of the staff unable to speak English except for Takeshi and Arafat from Bangladesh . Well I must say Takeshi and Shinzo have been helpful throughout my stay. Ultimately, I must say it’s a pleasant stay for me as the facilities in the is place were well kept and hygienic. Amenities provided in the room and communal onsen were more than ample. |

10-15 min walk uphill from the nearest bus station that will make you want to stay there once you check in! The kaiseki meals were great and the different semi- private baths were fun to try out. The room is also a great mix of modern and Japanese with a huge bed!

The hotel is situated 15 minutes taxi ride from the Beppu station. So we have nowhere to go that night. But it's good enough to have hotspring and drinks in the hotel. The staff is very polite and can explain what you can do in English. Then you were lead to the room and tips rejected. We booked the Kaiseki dinner and breakfast. The dinner time is either 6pm or 6:30pm and the breakfast time 8am or 8:30. The dinner is good but maybe my expectation is quite high, it didn't reach my expectation, especially for the sashimi. For the onsen, there are 4 private onsens and 2 public. One of the private onsens is closed. Therefore we can use 3. You can use the private onsen when it is not occupied. Just lock the door and turn the plate to the other side. But all the onsen are closed by 12 midnight. And there is a room with free flow beer and soda, but it closes at 10pm. Don't drink beer before taking hotspring. There is also an onsen in our room which can be used anytime. It's hot at night but not so hot in the next morning. Overall, the view is good. The staff is good. The food is good (just not so great) and the onsens are good. Beppu is a good place to stay a few days more

My wife and I have traveled fairly extensively in Japan over the last decade or so, and Matsubaya has become our favorite place to to go for a deeply relaxing stay. This is a place that we will return to again and again. The staff are exceedingly welcoming, warm, and helpful. The rooms are well appointed, and ours had a very nice city/sea view. We took time to enjoy all the private/family baths, and they're all just lovely. The cafe/bar/lounge area with complimentary coffee, drinks, and draft beer was a welcome surprise that we really enjoyed. We also thought the traditional Japanese breakfast was above and beyond our expectations. Bottom line: excellent service, excellent food, excellent everything.
